| This Author’s Carnival Album records the tableaux vivants staged on September 20th, 1880, in San Francisco at the Mechanics Pavilion. Proceeds from the sale of tickets went to various charitable organizations, including The Ladies Protection and Relief Society, the Young Women’s Christian Association, and the Old Ladies Home. The Executive Committee consisted of some of San Francisco’s leading citizens, including Charles Crocker and A. S. Hallidie. Dickens tableaux were from The Old Curiosity Shop, David Copperfield, and Barnaby Rudge. |
